The Southeast Missouri State softball team split Saturday's home doubleheader with Tennessee State, winning the opener 5-2 and dropping the nightcap 3-2.

Southeast is 16-18 overall and 6-7 in Ohio Valley Conference play. TSU is 13-22 and 5-8.

Elaine Fisher pitched a five-hitter in the first game. She allowed one earned run while striking out one and walking one.

The Redhawks had five hits. Alex Ramirez drove in three runs, and Katie Otterness added two RBIs.

Southeast had nine hits in the second game, but produced just two runs. Michelle Summers went 3-for-3 and Megan McDonald was 3-for-4. Summers and McDonald each had an RBI.

Whitney Dupuis suffered the loss, allowing five hits and three runs in 5 2/3 innings. She struck out three and walked three.

Fisher hurled 1 1/3 scoreless innings in relief, giving up one hit.

Lauren Weber was the winning hurler for the Tigers.

The Redhawks and Tigers conclude their three-game series at 1 p.m. today.

Tennis

The Southeast women's tennis team lost its second OVC home match in two days as Tennessee Tech beat the Redhawks 5-2 on Saturday.

Southeast is 5-10 overall and 2-5 in the OVC. Tech is 5-13 and 2-4.

The Redhawks received singles victories from No. 1 Bryce Kristal and No. 4 Elise Nattier. Bryce and Drew Kristal prevailed at No. 1 doubles.

Southeast closes out a three-match OVC homestand today with a 1 p.m. match against Samford (12-5, 4-0).
