The Southeast Missouri State women's soccer team finished fourth in the Ohio Valley Conference after Sunday's 0-0 tie at Samford.
Southeast, 7-7-2 overall, ended OVC play 4-3-2. Samford (11-3-3, 6-0-3) had already clinched the OVC regular-season championship, its fourth straight conference title since joining the league in 2003.
By placing fourth among 10 OVC squads, the Redhawks earned a home game for the first round of the six-team conference tournament.
The fourth-seeded Redhawks will play fifth-seeded Austin Peay Oct. 31 at Houck Stadium. The winner advances to the tournament semifinals Nov. 3 in Birmingham, Ala., with Samford serving as host.
Samford outshot Southeast 18-12 Sunday and had an 8-3 edge in corner kicks.
Southeast goalkeeper Lindsay Pickering was credited with eight saves in the shutout. Samford keeper Cayley Winters also made eight saves.
The Redhawks have one more regular-season match, at 7 p.m. Friday against Central Arkansas at Houck Stadium.
Southeast senior All-American punter David Simonhoff is the OVC special teams player of the week for football, the league announced Sunday.
Simonhoff averaged 50.7 yards on six punts during Saturday's 27-21 home loss to Eastern Kentucky. He had a 69-yard punt and placed two punts inside the 20-yard line.
The Redhawks (3-4, 1-3) are in seventh place in the nine-team OVC. They have lost three straight and will play at Murray State Saturday.
