Anderson, a junior, was one of the few bright spots for the Redhawks in their 59-3 loss to the University of Cincinnati on Thursday. He was rewarded for his effort by being named the Ohio Valley Conference newcomer of the week for the first week of action.

Anderson rushed for a game-high 118 yards on 13 carries and threw for 58 yards on 8-of-16 passing. He split time at quarterback with Houston Lillard in the game.

The Redhawks return to action Saturday when they host Southwest Baptist at Houck Stadium.

Women's soccer

Missouri State's Jenna Laughlin scored eight minutes into the game and that was all the Bears needed as they defeated the Redhawks 1-0 on Sunday.

It was the first loss of the season for Southeast, which managed just two shots in the second half.

Lindsay Pickering made four saves in the loss.

Southeast returns to action Sunday when it hosts DePaul at Houck Stadium.
