Two Southeast Missouri State pitchers were honored by the Ohio Valley Conference on Monday -- one in baseball and one in softball.
Jamie McAlister was named the league's baseball pitcher of the week for the second time this season, while Elaine Fisher won the same honor in OVC softball.
McAlister, who won the honor March 13, is the first Southeast pitcher to earn the award twice in a season since Tim Alvarez in 2003.
McAlister pitched 9 2/3 scoreless innings for the week and picked up two wins. He notched the win against Missouri last Wednesday by retiring all four batters he faced in a relief appearance. He then threw 8 1/3 innings in Southeast's series-opening win Saturday against Murray State.
McAlister is 4-4 this season with a 3.61 ERA in 52 1/3 innings.
While Southeast plays today at St. Louis University and Wednesday at home against Southern Illinois, McAlister's next start is scheduled for Saturday at Jacksonville State.
Fisher earned delivered 18 scoreless innings last week for the Southeast softball team.
She earned the award for the second time in her career.
She went 3-0, including a pair of wins against OVC foe Morehead State in a weekend sweep. She added a victory over Evansville.
In two complete-game victories over the Eagles, Fisher struck out 12 and allowed nine hits.
Overall, Fisher lowered her ERA to 1.50, and improved her pitching mark to 9-6.
Southeast is back in action today with a doubleheader at St. Louis University scheduled to start at 1 p.m. The Redhawks are currently 20-9, and 8-1 in OVC play.
