Southeast Missouri State pitcher Joey Lucchesi was named the Ohio Valley Conference's Pitcher of the Week on Monday after a perfect seven-inning outing last week against Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
He also was named Louisville Slugger National Pitcher of the Week by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper.
The senior left-hander did not allow a base runner in the Redhawks' 10-0 series-opening victory Friday against the Golden Lions.
Lucchesi, who was the OVC Pitcher of the Year following his junior campaign, retired all 21 batters he faced -- 11 by strikeout -- on 85 pitches as he improved to 1-1 on the season. Alex Siddle and Jared Waldhoff each pitched a scoreless inning to complete the shutout.
Lucchesi leads the league with 20 strikeouts in 13 innings pitched, has a 1.38 ERA and has issued only three walks.
Southeast has claimed the OVC Pitcher of the Week honors for the first two weeks of the 2016 season. Junior right-hander Clay Chandler was Co-Pitcher of the Week last week.
The Redhawks, who improved to 4-3 with a sweep of the Lions over the weekend, take a four-game winning streak into their contest against Southern Illinois (4-3).
The game was pushed back a day due to impending weather. First pitch was moved to 3 p.m. Wednesday in Carbondale, Illinois.
