The Southeast Missouri State softball team closed out the season-opening Mardi Gras Classic Sunday with a 10-2, five-inning loss to Northwestern State.
Southeast went 1-4 in the three-day event hosted by Louisiana-Monroe. Two of the defeats came against Northwestern State, including a 2-1 loss Friday.
The Redhawks grabbed an early 2-0 lead Sunday before the Demons scored the game's final 10 runs. Southeast had only two hits.
Southeast has this week off before returning to action Feb. 25 at the Mississippi Red & Blue Classic in Oxford, Miss.
