Southeast Missouri State track and field athletes had another successful meet Friday at the program's annual Redhawks Invitational.

Southeast won 11 events, seven on the men's side and four on the women's side, during the competition at the Student Recreation Center that also included Memphis, Bethel (Tenn.) and Rust (Miss.) College. No team scores were kept.

"We had quite a few people improve their performances on the year and we feel really good about where we are at right now," Southeast coach Eric Crumpecker said in a release.

Highlighting Southeast's performances was another school record, the sixth time the Redhawks have accomplished that this indoor season.

Junior Blake Carter did the honors, in the long jump, with a first-place distance of 25 feet, 6 inches. That broke the school mark of 25-1 1/2 set by John Berry in 2008 and also set a Student Recreation Center record.

Carter earlier this year broke the school 60-meter dash mark.

Other winners for Southeast's men were Kendrick Farr in the 55, Jackson High School graduate Tyson Stoverink in the 800, Tyler Holmes in the mile, Alex Zisser in the 3,000 and Craig Robinson in the weight throw.

Also on the men's side, Southeast's 1,600 relay team of Adam Shivers, Kameron Long, Holmes and Tyson Stoverink finished first.

Southeast women's winners were Maria Trowbridge in the 3,000, Notre Dame Regional High School graduate Jill Schnurbusch in the pole vault, Kim Moye in the triple jump and Courtney Gapelu in the shot put.

Friday's meet served as a tuneup for the Ohio Valley Conference Indoor Championships that will be held Feb. 22 and 23 in Charleston, Ill.

"Now it is about getting ready mentally for the OVC Indoor Championships," Crumpecker said.
