The Southeast Missouri State gymnastics team featured the top four all-round performers and a season-high team score in the floor exercise in a 193-475-192.5 dual victory Saturday night over defending Midwest Independent Conference champion Texas Woman's University at Houck Fieldhouse.
Redhawks freshman Rikara Turner led the charge with her third all-round title of the season and a 38.725 total. She was followed in the all-around standings by teammates Amber Garlotte (38.725), Maureen Grimaldi (38.525) and Bryanna Wong (38.275).
Wong and teammate Jena Nquyen were both awarded a season-best 9.825 in the floor exercise. They were followed by Turner and Grimaldi at 9.8. The foursome combined for a season-high 48.9 in the event, while Texas Woman's totaled 47.875.
Turner tied two Texas Woman's University gymnasts for the high score in the vault with a season-high 9.75. The vault was the only event won by the visitors, as Texas Woman's outscored Southeast 48.300-48.075.
Turner (9.75) placed second in the bars, while Jacqueline Heath (9.7) was third. The Redhawks outscored Texas Woman's 48.400-47.850 in the event.
In the beam, Garlotte (9.75) and Allison Ezell (9.725) were second and third, respectively, as Southeast finished at 48.100 as a team to Texas Woman's 48.050.
Southeast returns to action March 10 when it visits Texas Woman's University.
