Southeast Missouri State opened its indoor track and field season with some impressive performances at Saturday's Arkansas State Kickoff Classic. No team scores were kept. Southeast Missouri State opened its indoor track and field season with some impressive performances at Saturday's Arkansas State Kickoff Classic. No team scores were kept.

Finishing first for the Redhawks' men were senior Andrew Lambert in the high jump (6 feet 8 inches), senior Alonzo Nelson in the 55-meter hurdles (7.56 seconds) and senior Walter Washington in the 600-meters (1:20.97).

Also victorious was the Redhawks' 4x400 relay team of Nelson, sophomore Chris Poindexter, Washington and freshman Chris Williams (3:18.91).

Placing second were sophomore Kevin McNab in the 3,000 (8:30.45) and freshman Sam Scroggins in the shot put (53-10 1Ú4).

Freshmen Bilal Hameed was third in the triple jump (46-8).

Southeast's lone champion on the women's side was senior Heather Jenkins, who captured the weight throw (60-1 1Ú4). She was also third in the shot put (45-3).

Finishing second were senior Kris Woolf in the 3,000 (10:39.26), sophomore Taryn Phillips in the 800 (2:21.48) and freshman Whitney Thomas in the 55 hurdles (8.2).

Also for the Redhawks, the 4x400 relay team of freshman Precious Elliott, freshman Orie Ibe, Phillips, and Thomas placed third (4:03.93).

Southeast will take a few athletes to Friday's Fast Start Invitational in Carbondale, Ill. The Redhawks will return after the semester break to compete on Jan. 20 at the Saluki Booster Invitational in Carbondale.
