The Southeast Missouri State softball team finished the Ole Miss Red & Blue Classic in Oxford, Miss., with Sunday's 4-2 loss to host Mississippi.
Southeast went 2-3 in the three-day tournament and is 3-7 on the season. The Rebels are 5-11.
The Redhawks outhit Mississippi seven to six. Junior Evan Sallis paced Southeast with two hits. Senior Nicole Troncoso and junior Cheyenne Gipson drove in runs.
Sophomore Taylor Cowan was the losing pitcher, allowing all four runs and six hits in 4 1/3 innings. She was hurt by six walks.
Junior Stefanie Barnes finished up with 1 2/3 hitless innings.
Southeast continues its early season schedule away from Cape Girardeau in the Missouri Breast Cancer Tournament at St. Louis University on Friday and Saturday.
The Redhawks, who have not played at home, will have four games in the tournament. They will face St. Louis, Missouri, Missouri State and Missouri-Kansas City.
