The Southeast Missouri State softball team dug itself an early hole Sunday and dropped its second straight series to begin Ohio Valley Conference play.
Host Eastern Kentucky rolled past the Redhawks 7-2 in Richmond, Ky. That came after the squads split Saturday's doubleheader.
Southeast fell to 10-16 overall and 1-4 in the OVC. EKU is 7-20 and 2-3.
EKU scored four first-inning runs on four hits and never looked back. The Colonels knocked out Southeast starter Whitney Dupuis after she recorded just one out.
Stefanie Barnes, who pitched a shutout Saturday, relieved Dupuis. Barnes allowed four hits and three runs (two earned) over the final 5 2/3 innings.
Both sides finished with seven hits. Elise Sperakos and Shelby Stein led Southeast with two hits apiece.
