COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- The Southeast Missouri State volleyball team gained its first victory of the season Friday as the Air Force Academy Tournament got under way.

Southeast went 1-1 on the opening day of the six-team event, beating host Air Force 20-30, 30-22, 25-30, 30-27, 15-13, and losing to Butler 30-24, 30-19, 31-29.

The Redhawks (1-4) will play an undetermined opponent today as the tournament concludes.

Brenna Schlader had 17 kills and Jessica Koeper added 13 during the win over Air Force. Lauren Scannell led in digs with 19, followed by Koeper with 18 and Jill Miller with 12. Miller also had six service aces, while Jamie Baumstark recorded 49 assists.

Against Butler, Koeper was the lone Southeast player to reach double figures in kills as she had 13. Scannell again led in digs with 23, and Miller added 14. Baumstark had 31 assists.
