The Southeast Missouri State volleyball team celebrated senior day Saturday by rallying past Tennessee Tech and avenging a loss earlier in the season.
Although the Redhawks still have two home matches remaining, their two seniors -- Jill Miller and Lauren Scannell --were honored prior to Saturday's contest.
And both had strong performances, as the Redhawks prevailed 30-14, 28-30, 27-30, 34-32, 15-9.
Southeast evened its overall record at 14-14 and raised its Ohio Valley Conference mark to 10-4. The Redhawks are in fifth place among 11 teams, but just one game out of third place.
Miller had 21 kills and 21 digs, while Scannell recorded 34 digs. Scannell has reached double figures in digs the past 32 matches.
Junior Jessica Koeper, Southeast's kills leader on the season, led the way with 25. Sophomore Brenna Schlader added 14 kills.
Junior setter Jamie Baumstark had a triple-double with 67 assists, 20 digs and 10 kills. She also served four aces.
Sophomore Sirma Ozenir and freshman Alyssa Aston both added 10 digs for the Redhawks.
Tennessee Tech (6-20, 2-12) was led by Anne Morrow with 25 kills and 25 digs. Amanda Wolfard added 14 kills, while Laura Tyburski had 20 digs.
The Redhawks, after winning the opening game, fell behind by dropping the next two games. They posted a tight victory in the fourth game, then won handily in the fifth and deciding game.
The Redhawks host Jacksonville State on Thursday night, then close out the regular season Friday night by hosting Samford. The OVC Tournament will take place the following week.
