JUPITER, Fla. — Yunel Escobar and Chipper Jones hit home runs Sunday as the Atlanta Braves defeated the St. Louis Cardinals 3-2 in exhibition play at Roger Dean Stadium.
Escobar blasted a two-run homer in the third inning off Cardinals starter Todd Wellemeyer, who worked five innings and gave up all three runs.
"I felt good, the best I've felt all spring," Wellemeyer said.
Braves starter Tom Glavine allowed two runs and six hits in five innings
Cesar Izturis hit an RBI triple in the fourth for the Cardinals, giving him five hits to go with his team-leading five errors at shortstop.
