DETROIT -- Rolando Arrojo pitched seven shutout innings and the Boston Red Sox finished off a successful road trip with a 4-3 victory over the Detroit Tigers on Thursday.
The AL East-leading Red Sox went 8-2 on their swing to Toronto, New York and Detroit. Boston begins interleague play Friday night against NL West-leading Arizona at Fenway Park.
Nomar Garciaparra had three hits as the Red Sox sent Detroit to its third straight defeat and seventh loss in eight games.
Athletics 10, Mariners 4
OAKLAND, Calif. -- Barry Zito overcame a first-pitch home run by Ichiro Suzuki and won his sixth straight decision for Oakland.
Miguel Tejada homered and drove in four runs and Eric Chavez drove in three as Oakland split the four-game series. The Athletics have won 10 of their last 15 games.
Twins 8, Indians 3
MINNEAPOLIS -- Torii Hunter hit a three-run homer in a five-run fifth inning to help Minnesota beat Bartolo Colon and the Cleveland Indians.
Jacque Jones was 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs for Minnesota.
Royals 4, White Sox 3
CHICAGO -- Kansas City's Darrell May earned his first major league victory in nearly five seasons.
May (1-3) gave up one run in five innings, working around four hits and five walks.
May's last win came on Aug. 31, 1997, when he was pitching for Anaheim. He spent the previous four seasons in Japan and began this year on the disabled list because of a strained left groin.
Blue Jays 5, Devil Rays 4
TORONTO -- Pinch-hitter Eric Hinske hit an RBI single in the bottom of the ninth inning to lift Toronto to victory.
Travis Harper (2-3), who relieved in the seventh after Tampa Bay starter Joe Kennedy was ejected, walked Chris Woodward and Vernon Wells to start the Toronto ninth.
Braves 3, Mets 2
ATLANTA -- Tom Glavine became the NL's second 10-game winner, pitching seven strong innings as the Atlanta Braves completed a sweep of slumping New York.
Atlanta won for the ninth time in 11 games, including three straight victories over the Mets. The other game in the series was rained out.-- From wire reports
