Record-setting Perry leads by seven strokes at Colonial

Kenny Perry shot 6-under 64 and set another Colonial scoring record on Saturday, taking a seven-stroke lead over Billy Mayfair and Steve Stricker heading into the final round.

Perry broke his own 54-hole scoring record at 18-under 192 on the course in Fort Worth, Texas. It is also the lowest score at the end of three rounds on the PGA Tour this season, although Joe Ogilvie's 193 at the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic in January was 23 under.

Through 54 holes, Perry has just one bogey -- on No. 8, his 17th hole on Thursday. He has made 51-of-54 putts from 15 feet or less, including a 5-footer after blasting from the sand to avoid a closing bogey Saturday.

"My game's here. It's just a matter of me being patient tomorrow and going out there and winning," Perry said. "I've played to the fat part of the greens and made a lot of nice 8 to 10 footers. If I do that again tomorrow, they're not going to catch me."

Mayfair, who hasn't won since 1998, and Stricker, trying to regain full-time playing privileges on tour, both had 66s. Peter Lonard was fourth, eight strokes back, after his 65.

"Winning a tournament would be great, but that doesn't seem reality now," Stricker said.

"I thought if I can get into double figures, I will give myself a chance [Sunday]," Lonard said. "I actually didn't plan on Kenny getting over 20."

Phil Mickelson, who trails Perry by 16 strokes after a third-round 68, was the only other player to carry a seven-stroke lead into a final round this year.

Sybase Classic

Christina Kim closed a 1-under 70 with 11 straight pars and held a one-stroke lead over three players after three rounds of the LPGA Sybase Classic in New Rochelle, N.Y.

Tour rookies Paula Creamer and Joo Mi Kim and 2002 Sybase champion Gloria Park all were at 5-under 208 after 71s on their third trip around the Wykagyl Country Club course. The same trio was tied with Kim for the lead after 36 holes.

The last time Christina Kim had anything but a par was a 10-foot birdie on the par-4 8th. She had a three-putt bogey from 40 feet on the par-3 4th and a tap-in birdie on the par-4 5th.

The 18-year-old Creamer, who will graduate from high school on Thursday, had four birdies and four bogeys to stay in contention.

Heather Bowie (69) and Siew-Ai Lim (70) were tied at 4-under 209, one stroke ahead of Mi Hyun Kim (69) and Michele Redman (71).

Dalhousie Golf Club touring pro Karen Stupples was 4 over after a 74 on Saturday.

Irish Open

Nick Dougherty birdied three of the last six holes to shoot a 5-under 67 and take a two-stroke lead after three rounds of the Irish Open.

The English protege of Nick Faldo is at 9 under for the tournament and in position to win for the second time this year. Dougherty won his first in January at the Singapore Masters.

David Howell (69) and Oliver Wilson (66) are tied for second. Colin Montgomerie slipped to a 3-over 75 on the course at Carton House, which he designed. He is tied for 49th.

Bruno Memorial Classic

D.A. Weibring shot a 7-under-par 65 to take a one-stroke lead over first-round leader Dana Quigley and a surging Tom Kite in the second round of the Bruno's Memorial Classic in Hoover, Ala.

Kite tied the tournament record with a 63, but Weibring birdied five of the final seven holes.
