Shae Simmons had a dominating display on the mound Friday as the Scott City baseball team nipped Sullivan 1-0 in the Festus tournament.
Simmons, a senior who has signed to play at Southeast Missouri State, fired a one-hitter and struck out 18 in going the seven-inning distance.
Josh Henson went 2-for-3 with a double and drove in the game's only run, in the fifth inning, as the Rams improved to 2-2 with their second straight win.
The Rams play Festus today in pool play. The winner will advance to the championship later in the day.

Davis got the victory as he worked the first four innings. VanGennip followed with three shutout innings for the Wildcats (2-2).

Woodland and Clearwater were tied 1-1 heading into the bottom of the fifth. That was when host Clearwater exploded for 10 runs to put the run rule into effect.
Neil Johnson suffered the loss. He went four innings, striking out five and walking six.
Woodland dropped to 0-2, while Clearwater improved to 4-0.

Brianne Sanders also netted two goals for the Bulldogs (5-0). Molly Proffer and Ashten Hesselrode each scored one goal and Allyson Bradshaw recorded two assists. Taylor Sanders, Kelsey Westrich and Meghan Dohogne each added an assist.
Goalkeeper Katherine Blasiney got the shutout.

New Madrid County Central won the four-team meet at Dalhousie Golf Club, edging Notre Dame 166 to 167.
Host Saxony Lutheran followed with a 191 and Advance had 235.
Notre Dame's Brett Slaten was the individual medalist with a 37. NMCC's Justin Fields followed with a 39.
