About the only drops of rain in the past two weeks were enough to postpone Thursday night's American Legion baseball game between Jackson and visiting Scott County Post 369 (Medicap).

The teams will try to make up the District 14 game this evening with a new time -- 5 p.m. -- and a new location -- Notre Dame Regional High School in Cape Girardeau.

Jackson was unexpectedly idle for a second straight night, having had its game Wednesday at Twin Rivers canceled by a scheduling conflict.

Scott County comes off two losses Wednesday night against Dunklin County.

In the opener, which counted in the district standings, Scott County lost 7-5. Lucas Dirnberger took the loss after allowing 10 hits over seven innings. Caleb Daughhetee, Shane Menz and Aaron Jackson each had two hits. Menz and Jackson each had a double.

Things didn't get any better for Scott County in the nightcap, which it lost 14-10.

Daughhetee, Dirnberger, Menz and Chad Friend each had two hits for Scott County. Daughhetee, Dirnberger and Friend each had doubles.

John Simpher took the loss.

Other events

* The Jackson American Legion junior team lost 8-5 to Sikeston in a make-up district game. Kyle Taylor took the loss after pitching 2 1/3 innings. Austin Neal had two hits for Jackson. Jackson fell to 5-5 in district play and 16-14 overall.
