Two days after the Murray State football team lost 49-13 to Southeast Missouri State, Racers athletic director Allen Ward announced coach Matt Griffin will not return for a fifth season.
Ward said a search for a replacement would begin immediately.
Murray State fell to 3-6 overall and 2-5 in the Ohio Valley Conference with Saturday's loss to the Redhawks. The Racers have compiled an 11-33 record in Griffin's four seasons.
Griffin had a five-year contract at Murray State.
The Racers close their season Saturday at Tennessee Tech.
