ELLSINORE — The East Carter Lady Redbirds got 29 points from Brooklyn Kearbey and took a resounding 68-46 victory over the Class 4 Kennett Lady Indians Monday night

“Kennett is a more physical team than we’re used to and that’s something we need to get better at playing through,” said East Carter coach Angela Rodgers. “It was not one of our smoothest games, but I’m proud that we didn’t roll over.”

The Lady Redbirds (17-6) were led by Brooklyn Kearbey (29 points) and Breanna Dohleman (15).

The Lady Indians were led by Aneikn Farmer (18 points) and Taysia Carter (13).

Doniphan 85, Sikeston 45

At Sikeston, the visiting Donettes had little problem with Sikeston in a mercy-rule win over the Lady Bulldogs.

“We shot the ball extremely good and got into transition,” Said Doniphan coach Adam Epps.

The Donettes were led by 28 points from Kenzie Redus and 20 from Brook Klepzig.

Ellington 65, Alton 61

At Alton, the visiting Lady Whippets held a steady lead and ultimately earned the win over the Lady Comets.

Ellington was paced by 29 points from Dylan Price, while Kaylee King added 28.

Scott City 34, Puxico 19

At Puxico, the host Lady Indians fell against the Scott City Lady Rams.

“Scott City played in the zone,” said Puxico coach Trent Copling. “We didn’t shoot very well the whole game and struggled rebounding leading to foul trouble in the first half.”

The Lady Indians were led by Adi Denny and Laney Porter with five points apiece.

The Lady Rams were paced by Ramsey Spinks (10 points), Liza Dannenmueller (eight) and Mackenzie Lawless (seven).

Bloomfield 60, Caruthersville 20

At Caruthersville, the visiting Lady Wildcats soared to a 40-point victory over the Lady Tigers.

Every Bloomfield player scored points during Monday night’s game.

Kendall Phillips paced the Lady Wildcats with 18 points, while Kaelyn Conner and Mollianne Dodd each had 14.

Boys

Senath-Hornersville 73, East Carter 58

At Senath, the host Lions roared past East Carter in the Battle of the Penn brothers.

The visiting Redbirds (10-11) coached by Jordan Penn, started the game strong, but fell in the second half to Senath-Hornersville, coached by Kurt Penn.

“Our kids came out and fought in the first half,” said Jordan Penn. “We had too many turnovers and didn’t make enough shots in the second half to win tonight. I’m happy for coach Kurt Penn and his team. They earned this one.

“I do hate to lose, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little proud of my little brother. He’s a heck of a coach.”

The brothers are now tied 1-1 with team wins and will be expecting a rematch next season.

The Redbirds were led by Kasen McCarty with 22 points for the night’s game.

The Lions were led by Jaxon Layne and Amador Luna with 16 points apiece.

South Pemiscot 79, Neelyville 65

At Steele, the visiting Tigers fell to South Pemiscot.

“South Pemiscot is a tough team that plays very well,” said Neelyville coach Brad Burdin. “They were able to pull away at the end to secure the win.”

The Tigers were led by 20 points apiece from Kye Wolfram and Brock Davis.

Clarkton 83, Zalma 45

At Zalma, the visiting Reindeer scored often in a rout of Zalma.

“This is our first win in a while,” said Clarkton coach Cole McBroom. “The kids played hard and did what they needed to do to win.”

The Reindeer were led by Owen Morgan (30 points) and Clayton Godsey (26).

Clarkton’s next game is a home game Tuesday against South Pemiscot.

Westwood Baptist 66, Risco 61

At Risco, the visiting Westwood Baptist Eagles got the win over the hos the Risco Tigers.

“The boys played a great team game tonight,” said Westwood Baptist coach Josh Hawley. “They had great hustle and toughness.”

During the night’s game, Jeffrey VanDover scored his 1,000th career point.

Clearwater 68, Van Buren 65

At Piedmont, the host Tigers get the win against the Van Buren Bulldogs.

“I’m really excited for the seniors to win on senior night,” said Clearwater coach Zac Moore. “The team played well and found a way to grind out a win against a tough Van Buren team.”

The Tigers were led by Charles Robbins with 25 points.

“I give Clearwater credit — they played extremely hard and wanted to win on their senior night,” said Van Buren coach Jacob Black. “We didn’t execute towards the end of the game and our free throw shots were poor. Those are two things that is a must when you play on the road.”

The Bulldogs were led by Benjamin Hawkins (13 points) and Caleb Ricker (12).

Puxico 78, Naylor 36

At Puxico, the host Indians rolled to the big victory over the Naylor Eagles.

“We played as an overall good team,” said Puxico coach Bryant Fernetti.

The Indians were led by Thomas Burch (23 points) and Duncan Crabb (20).

The Eagles were led by Damien Thilman with 13 points.
