The Scott County Rage Post 369 Freshmen Legion baseball team closed out its season by claiming the Missouri state championship with a 7-3 victory over Bonne Terre on Saturday at Glendale High School in Springfield.
Post 369, which claimed a district title over Jackson Post 158 and Cape Girardeau Post 63, went undefeated at the tournament. The Rage defeated Hannibal 6-0, Glendale 15-0 and Bonne Terre 7-0 before the title game.
Will Gilmer got the win in the championship. Drew Reischman was 2 for 4 with two doubles, Bryce Bays was 2 for 2 with a double and Austin McIntosh was 3 for 3 with three singles.
The team included members of Bell City High School's Class 1 state championship squad as well as the Scott City team that took second in Class 3 to go along with players from Chaffee, Sikeston, Oran and Poplar Bluff. The roster included: Dakota Talley, Will Gilmer, Drew Reischman, Landon Tenkhoff, Austin Copeland, Austin McIntosh, Mason libla, Turner Fritts, Cole Nicholes, Bobby Wright, Kasten Campbell, Noah Brown, Bryce Bays and Joe Baker.
The Jackson Junior Legion baseball team's season came to an end at the zone tournament with a 12-2 loss to Festus on Friday afternoon at Missouri Baptist University in St. Louis.
Jackson, which won a district title to advance to the zone tournament, finished the season 24-11.
