Portageville pulls away from rival down the stretch

PORTAGEVILLE, Mo. — The Portageville boys basketball team used a one-sided fourth quarter to rout South Pemiscot on Friday, Jan. 13.

Portageville (9-6) won 66-37 over South Pemiscot (3-10) and was led by a game-high 32 points from Shane Townsend.

“The kids came out with great energy tonight,” said Portageville coach TJ Smith. “The crowd was insane and the atmosphere was great. One of the major reasons I wanted to coach here is because you can’t beat it. All three seniors played phenomenally tonight. So happy for them to be able to have success on their final homecoming game.”

Both teams return to the hardwood on the road on Tuesday, Jan. 17.

Portageville travels to Senath-Hornersville (9-5), while South Pemiscot is at Armorel.
