STEELE, Mo. — The Portageville baseball team overcame six errors, the most the team has committed in the past two seasons, to defeat a Bootheel Conference rival on Wednesday, March 29.
Portageville (8-0) won 7-4 at South Pemiscot (2-3) behind multiple hit performances from Mason Adams (2-for-3 with an RBI and score run), Trey Benthal (2-for-3 with an RBI) and Beau Hunter-Warren (2-for-4).
“We found a way to win and that’s the most important thing,” said Portageville coach Tyler Trover. “We had some nice efforts on the mound.”
Adams earned the win after starting and throwing the first five innings. He allowed two earned runs on three hits with three strikeouts and one walk. Rylan Partin pitched the final two innings and didn’t allow any runs on two hits with two strikeouts and one walked batter.
“[Partin] looked really good and did a lot of positive things,” Trover said. “He’s definitely a weapon for us going down the road.”
Portageville will host Neelyville (4-3) at 4:30 p.m. and New Madrid County Central (2-1) at 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 30.
South Pemiscot travels to Greenville (2-0) on Thursday, March 30.
