PORTAGEVILLE BOYS CLAIM THIRD AT 2A FINAL FOUR

COLUMBIA -- Torry Saxton scored 20 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead Portageville past North Callaway 75-63 in the Class 2A boys third-place game Saturday.

After leading 33-29 at halftime, Portageville (26-6) broke the game open in the third quarter.

North Callaway made a late run with a barrage of 3-pointers. With 1:09 left Darren Baldwin hit one to cut the Portageville lead to 67-61, but the Thunderbirds (25-7) couldn't get any closer.

Quinton Sykes added 13 points for Portageville.

Baldwin led North Callaway with 19 points and 10 rebounds.
