The Poplar Bluff School District is gearing up for another year of athletics and will host its annual Free Physical Night Thursday at Poplar Bluff High School.
To guarantee that every student is physically and mentally prepared to engage in their chosen activity safely, each season every student-athlete has to obtain a physical to be able to participate.
The free physical night is for junior high and high school student-athletes. The seventh and eighth grades will meet at 5:30 p.m., the ninth and 10th grades at 6:30 and the 11th and 12th grades at 7:30.
This is the 12th year of the free physical night, and Poplar Bluff High athletic director Kent Keith encourages every student-athlete to come out to the event to take care of the proper needs for the upcoming athletic season.
“We greatly appreciate our local healthcare professionals for donating their services for this event,” Keith said. “Our coaching staff also donates their time to help things run smoothly.
Subway, Godfather’s, Buffalo Wild Wings, Mike & Zach’s BBQ and Pepsi have consistently stepped forward to provide food and drinks for our workers and volunteers. Every year this all comes together as a service to our community.”
The athletic season is quickly approaching. The first Fall high school sports practice day is Aug. 7 and the first practice day for junior high is Aug. 14.
