The Notre Dame soccer team could not contain Poplar Bluff forward Justin Alford in a 4-2 loss to the Mules on Tuesday night at home.

Alford scored three goals in a 20-minute span in the first half to help Poplar Bluff grab a 4-2 halftime lead.

Frankie Ellis and Mark Unterreiner were Notre Dame's (3-3) goal scorers. Jason Delgado had an assist.

"We kind of put our heads down a little bit I thought," Notre Dame coach Brad Wittenborn said.

Despite the loss, Wittenborn said his team's offensive performance was its best this year.

JV -- Notre Dame won 4-0. Goals: Ty Williams, Jack Wedemier, Ryan Willen and John Oliver. Assists: Williams, Richard Marquart, Matt Rosenquist and J.P. Thompson.

Central 6, Sikeston 0

Central had five different goal scorers in a home shutout.

Devon Edmonds scored the first two goals for Central (5-3), which led 1-0 at halftime. Matt Hellrich, Seth Gerlach, Cody Gaither and Tyson Whiteside added goals. Assists were credited to Sam Bornstein (2), Justin Lambert (2), Ryan Ponder and Trenton Beckham.

Tony Leuckel, Jordan Young and Clayton Uptain split time in goal for the shutout.

JV --Central won 4-1.

Jackson 4, Anna-Jonesboro 0

Chris Kraust scored two goals as Jackson eased past the visitors from Illinois.

Chris Bramlett also scored for the Indians (4-5), while the other goal came when an Anna-Jonesboro player put the ball in his own net. Andrew Lorenz and Zach Priester added assists. Keeper Tyler Holman posted the shutout.

Central improved to 6-0 in dual matches by sweeping visiting Jackson (2-7).
