The Poplar Bluff Mules’ track and field time at the 2023 MSHSAA Class 5 State Championships has ended.

After bringing in medals from Friday’s meet, the boys returned Saturday with another opportunity to win more hardware for the Mules while the Lady Mules looked to capture their first.

With another chance to win gold, junior Darius Graham competed in the triple jump. Despite his record-breaking long jump, Graham fell short of adding another. He cleared his best at 42-6 ¾ and claimed the 12th spot in the triple jump. Out of 50 teams, the Mules finished 19th.

Lady Mules

The Lady Mules’ finally snagged a medal as junior Kennedy Zgaynor put her throwing power to the test by placing forth in girls’ javelin with a distance of 128-3. Senior Adrianne Casey finished ninth with a distance of 120-7.

Makyra Mead finished 14th in the shot put with a score of 10.77 and a distance of 35-4, while McKenzie Cassie finished with a score of 4.93 with a distance of 16-2 ¼.
