ST. LOUIS -- Perryville High's girls basketball team lost its first game in the Visitation Tournament last week but the Lady Pirates certainly rebounded nicely.

The Lady Pirates won their third straight tourney game and captured the consolation title Sunday by beating Kirkwood 58-49.

"We ended up having a good tournament," said Perryville coach Vicki Lohmann, whose team is now 9-4. "The girls did a good job."

Tiffany Perkins came off the bench and paced the Lady Pirates with 16 points. Laura Ernst and Renee Kaempfe both scored 14.

"Tiffany had an outstanding game off the bench. She hit eight out of 10 shots and really stepped up," Lohmann said.

STE. GENEVIEVE -- The Pirates won the battle of Perryville Sunday by holding off the Indians in the seventh-place game of the eight-team Ste. Genevieve Tournament.

Perryville (4-6) was led by Paul Weinkein with 16 points. Tyson Brown had 14 and Todd French 12.

St. Vincent (1-9) got 11 points from four players: Chad Winkler, Josh Wheeler, Dusty Wengert and Dustin Moll.

The Pirates led 28-19 at halftime and 46-33 after three quarters before the Indians stormed back in the final period. Their rally, however, fell short.

"We didn't play bad the first quarter and then we couldn't put the ball in the hole," said St. Vincent coach Bruce Valleroy. "But in the fourth quarter we turned it on and made a good run."

In other tourney play Sunday, Hazelwood Central won the title by beating Springfield Parkview 60-50; Blue Springs finished third with a 66-53 win over Sedalia Smith-Cotton; and Parkway North placed third with a 54-49 win over Ste. Genevieve.
