PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- That record sure didn't last long.

Four days after Doniphan's Brandi Cox set a Missouri high school record with 11 three-pointers in a game, Amanda Knight of Perryville topped it again -- this time with 14 three-point shots in a 68-27 win Thursday over Grandview.

"Toward the end of the game one of my teammates looked at me and said, 'You have no idea what you accomplished tonight do you?'" Knight said. "I told her no. She said I'd find out in about 25 seconds when the game was over."

The news, Knight said, was a surprise. Her 61-percent three-point shooting left her with a record that, until Monday, had stood since 1991.

"She's an excellent three-point shooter anyway," Perryville coach Vicki Lohmann said, "but tonight she was just on fire."

Knight, a 5-foot-5 senior guard, scored the first nine points of the game -- all on three-pointers -- and finished with six in the first half. She sat out much of the second quarter after Perryville took a 29-3 first-quarter lead.

It was 46-9 at halftime.

"The first part of the game they were in a zone defense and it left the outside open," Knight said. "After halftime they stuck a girl on me in man-to-man and I had to work to get open. I kept shooting and kept playing hard, no matter how big the lead was. I had other people helping me get open and feeding me the ball all night."

Knight's 46 total points broke the school record of 43 set in 1992 by Natalie Schuessler. The school's three-point record was eight, set in 1998 by Laura Ernst.
