Perryville senior Amber Hacker helped lead the Pirates girls soccer team to its first district title this season, and in the process earned co-Most Valuable Player honors in the Jefferson County Conference.

Hacker finished with nine goals and 11 assists. Perryville ended its season with a 3-0 loss to St. Pius in the Class 1 sectional round. St. Pius defender Sarah Stone shared the MVP honors with Hacker.

Junior goalie Chastity Marr, sophomore forward Chelsey Marr and freshman defender Ava Johnson also earned first-team all-conference honors for the Pirates.

St. Vincent sophomores Brooke Brown, Kelsey Cissell and Sara Moll were first-team all-conference.

Jackson's Jones signs

All-state Jackson girls basketball player Bobbie Jones recently signed with Three Rivers Community College in Poplar Bluff, Mo.

Jones was the SEMO Conference player of the year her senior season and earned second-team all-state honors. Jackson won a Class 5 district title this past season and finished 22-5. Jones led the team in scoring at more than 15 points a game.

Oran's Duncan signs

Carmen Duncan signed a letter of intent to play volleyball for Three Rivers Community College, in Poplar Bluff, Mo.

Three Rivers is a member of the Midwest Community College Athletic Conference and Region 16.

Duncan, a senior outside hitter at Oran, led her team with 133 kills and 159 digs this past season. Duncan finished the season with a .249 hitting percentage and 21 aces. She received first-team all-district honors in 2004 and 2005, as well as first-team all-conference honors in 2004 and 2005.

Academic recognition

Jackson led area schools with five varsity teams receiving outstanding scholastic achievement recognition from the Missouri State High Schools Activities Association.

Teams that have cumulative grade point averages between 3.25 and 4.00 earn outstanding scholastic achievement.

The Indians' boys cross country team led the way with a 4.00 GPA. Girls cross country (3.38), volleyball (3.60), boys soccer (3.40) and girls tennis (3.60) also made the grade for the Indians.

Leopold's varsity cheerleading squad (3.86), boys basketball team (3.46) and volleyball team (3.82) also earned outstanding scholastic achievement.

Perryville had four varsity teams with GPAs of 3.25 or higher. Volleyball (3.43), softball (3.56), girls cross country (3.61) and boys cross country (3.27) all were honored.

Jackson's softball team earned distinguished scholastic achievement with a GPA of 3.20.
