FESTUS -- Perryville High's boys cross country team won the Jefferson County Conference Meet for the first time, scoring 42 points. Runnerup Herculaneum had 67 points. FESTUS -- Perryville High's boys cross country team won the Jefferson County Conference Meet for the first time, scoring 42 points. Runnerup Herculaneum had 67 points.

The Pirates had six of the top 14 finishers: Nathan Moore (4th, 17:58), Tyson Rellegert (7th, 18:20), James Boice (8th, 18:22); Jeff Koenig (10th, 19:01), Jacob Schneider (13th, 19:05) and Tim Winningham (14th, 19:10).

"It was exciting," said Perryville coach Joe Dandridge. "The guys did a great job."

Perryville's girls were fourth, led by sixth-place Gina Buerck (21:53) and Renee Schlichting (11th, 22:28).

Perryville's JV boys won the title, led by a first-place finish by Brian Schlichting. He was followed by Tim Chitwood (2nd), Curt Brewer (3rd), Jessie Gegg (6th) and Daniel Winningham (8th)and No. 9 Jeremy Mitchell.

VOLLEYBALL

Notre Dame 15-15

Cape Central 6-13

The Lady Bulldogs' Lynn Obermiller took a bite out of Cape Central (6-14-1), helping Notre Dame (8-10) to a two-set victory.

Obermiller led all scorers with nine kills, while teammate Jennifer Van Gennip had six and Rachel Beussink had four.

Notre Dame's Michelle Hency served for 14 points, Carrie Halter had 10 and Kim Crader had six service points and 10 assists.

Notre Dame's Freshman team prevailed 15-6, 15-1. Notre Dame's JV squad won in three games: 15-6, 13-15, 15-3.

Jackson 15-15

New Madrid 4-11

JACKSON -- The Lady Indians' Andrea Koeper worked hard to help Jackson (21-6-1) to victory.

Koeper served for eleven points - including six aces - and added 11 kills and five digs.

Lady Indian Jennifer Mesey knocked in eight kills and had eight digs. Casey Randol dished out 10 assists and Sarah Biri chipped in with six assists for Jackson. Teammate Jennifer Leet dug out seven shots while Emily Unverferth finished with six.

Jackson's JV improved to 22-4-1 by winning 15-9, 15-8.

De Soto 15-15

Perryville 5-3

PERRYVILLE -- The Lady Pirates dropped to 8-14-1 and 2-6 in the Jefferson County Conference with a two-set loss to De Soto.

Andrea Buerck led Perryville with two service points, four assists and four digs. Katie Kutz added three kills.

Perryville's JV lost 15-9, 15-12.

St. Vincent 9-3

Festus 15-15

PERRYVILLE -- Jessica Lakenan provided seven kills and three blocks in a losing cause as St. Vincent dropped to 5-14-2 on the season.

St. Vincent's Danielle Sutterer had four kills and three blocks and Amie Leible posted a team-high three service points for the Squaws.

St. Vincent's junior varsity lost in three sets.

New Salem Baptist Academy 15-15

Eagle Ridge Christian 9-5

Eagle Ridge Christian School dropped to 1-5 on the season with a 15-9, 15-5 loss to New Salem Baptist Academy of Marble Hill.

Amber Karnes had seven service points and Carrie Margrave provided four for Eagle Ridge.

Eagle Ridge won the junior-varsity game 15-7, 15-1 to remain undefeated at 5-0.

Leopold 15-15

Woodland 11-0

WOODLAND -- Leopold's Holly Jansen paced the scoring, as the Lady Wildcats (15-5) downed Woodland in two sets.

Jansen was credited with seven kills and nine digs. Teammate Kelly Wesbecher helped out with 13 assists and seven digs.

Leopold's Emily Broshuis pounded out six kills; Sarah Gowen passed out seven assists; and Amy Stroder had six digs for the Lady Wildcats.

For Woodland (18-4), Sarah Booth was credited with three kills and five digs; Jessica Bollinger had four kills; and Amanda Jordan and Lilo Whitener both had four digs.

Leopold's JV team prevailed 15-9, 15-10.

Zalma 15-15

Advance 13-9

ZALMA -- Zalma's Selena Slaughter dished out 30 assists and had nine service points in the Lady Bulldogs' victory.

The Lady Bulldogs' Amber Buehler had nine kills and six service points. Teammate Mary Kay Hovis added five kills and eight service points.

Amber Buehler hammered nine kills and served for six points. Carrie Pixley hit 10 kills for Zalma (8-11).

The Lady Hornets' Emily Johnson blocked three shots and had five kills. Teammate Amber Bond added five kills.

Advance (3-15-2) plays Scott City at home Thursday.

Zalma's JV squad won 15-8, 15-7.

Bell City 15-15

Chaffee 11-9

BELL CITY -- Katie Spears collected 10 kills and 10 service points to lead Bell City (12-9-2) to victory.

Teammate Kelly Steiner dished out 17 assists. Jessica Shelby had seven digs for Bell City.

BOYS SOCCER

Jackson 7, Sikeston 0

JACKSON -- Tyler Stearns netted three goals as Jackson breezed to victory.

Patrick Kohm, Matt Gordon, Joe Weber and Jimmy Sievers added goals for the Indians, who improved to 9-7-3. Weber also gathered three assists, while Greg Schwab had two and Michael Schuette and Gordon had one apiece.

Austin McDowell recorded the shutout in goal.

Jackson won the JV contest 4-0. Matt Buttrey, Jason Kell, Mitchell Casteel and Alex Richbourg accounted for the goals.

Cape Central 2, Marion, Ill. 2

MARION, Ill. -- Jon Mark Thompson scored on a penalty kick at the 72-minute mark to preserve a tie for Cape Central.

Bret McNabb scored the other goal for Central on a long kick from outside the penalty area, which put the Tigers (11-9-2) ahead 1-0 at the 29-minute mark.

The score was tied 1-1 at half, thanks to a successful Marion penalty kick.

At the 45-minute mark, Marion scored on a breakaway to pull ahead 2-1.

Central's junior varsity (7-2-3) also played to a tie as Whit Lynn scored Central's only goal.
