PERRYVILLE -- Perryville's girls saw its season come to a close Monday night with an opening-round loss to Ste. Genevieve in the Class 3A, District 2 volleyball tournament.
Fourth-seeded Ste. Genevieve advances to tonight's semifinals with its 15-10, 8-15, 15-12 victory over fifth-seeded Perryville.
Perryville finished out its season with a 9-17-1 record.
"We played one of our best defensive matches of the season," said Perryville coach Tim Steffens. "We weren't quite strong enough to convert on offense, but we played a good game to go out on."
Perryville's Andrea Buerck had eight service points, 11 assists with seven digs; Katie Buerck recorded eight points and 10 digs; Jamie Amberger tallied six service points, four kills and eight digs; Natalie Bohnert notched seven kills and four blocks; Katie Kutz had five kills; and Crystal Thieret added eight assists.
Third-seeded Park Hills defeated sixth-seeded Potosi 15-7, 15-13 in the other opening-round match.
In the semifinal pairing, Ste. Genevieve will face top-seeded Festus and Park Hills will face second-seeded St. Pius.

Richland 4-7
ZALMA -- The Lady Eagles' Jennifer Law laid down the law with eight consecutive service points in the opening set to help fifth-seeded Oran upset fourth-seeded Richland 15-4, 15-7 in the opening round.
Misty Senciboy also had eight service points and two kills; Sarah Heisserer tallied six kills; Maria Eftink recorded four kills and Rebecca Trankler added two.
Oran improved to 10-13-2 with the win, advancing to play top-seeded Bernie tonight at 6 in semifinal action.
