ST. LOUIS -- Perryville High's girls basketball team won its second straight game in the Visitation Christmas Tournament Saturday as the Lady Pirates advanced to the consolation final.
The Lady Pirates (8-4) beat Northwest of House Springs 59-43 to move into today's 3 p.m. consolation final against either Kirkwood or Lafayette.
Renee Kaempfe scored 21 points and April Watts added 19 to lead the Lady Pirates.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Ste. Gen. 49, St. Vincent 41
STE. GENEVIEVE -- St. Vincent High's boys basketball team suffered its second straight loss in the Ste. Genevieve Tournament as the Indians fell to the host squad Saturday in consolation action.
The Indians (1-8) will take on cross-town rival Perryville at 1 p.m. today for seventh place. Perryville also lost its second straight game in the tourney Saturday, falling to Parkway North 70-60.
Josh Wheeler scored 18 points and Chad Winkler had 14 for St. Vincent, but the rest of the team combined for only nine points.
Marquand 73, Zalma 48
PARK HILLS -- Marquand prevailed Saturday in the consolation round of the Park Hills Tournament.
The Tigers (5-5) got 17 points from Brandon Settle, 16 from Steve Braswell, 14 from Dusty Stephens and 13 from Travis Braswell.
Zalma (2-7) was led by Gandy Wade with 15 points.
Marquand, which had lost to Potosi 69-53 in Friday's opening round, will play South Iron at 3:30 p.m. Monday in the consolation semifinals.
