Thursday night was not one to write home about for Notre Dame's girls basketball team.
Icy shooting and a scoreless third quarter spelled doom for the Lady Bulldogs as visiting Perryville came away with a 50-31 victory.
Notre Dame led 12-8 after one quarter, but the Lady Bulldogs were outscored 42-19 in the final three periods. Leading 26-22 at halftime, Perryville (13-8) outscored Notre Dame 11-0 in the third quarter.
Notre Dame (10-12) shot 11 of 48 (23 percent) from the floor for the game.
"We sure didn't shoot very well," Notre Dame coach Jerry Grim said. "Twenty-three percent just won't cut it."
For Perryville, Tiffany Perkins finished with 13 points, Amy Verseman 12 and Jeni Blevins 10. Notre Dame's high scorer was Jill Huber with 10.
Scott City 55, Puxico 47
SCOTT CITY -- Puxico's Jackie Payne outscored Scott City's Alaina Smith 28-27, but Scott City emerged with the win.
After Smith's 27, Becca Gowin had 11 as Scott City moved to 11-8.
Puxico led 31-28 at halftime before Scott City outscored the Lady Indians 27-17 in the second half.
New Madrid Co. 72, Kelly 50
BENTON -- New Madrid County Central's 6-foot-4 center, Shayla Day, had 25 points as the Lady Eagles (16-6) beat Kelly.
Kelly slipped to 15-7. Marissa Essner and Bridgette Riley each had 14 points and Audrey Burford added 13.
New Madrid led 15-8 after one quarter and 36-18 at the half.
Chaffee 49, Dexter 47
CHAFFEE -- Jodi Pfefferkorn sank two free throws with 10 seconds left, breaking a 47-47 deadlock and lifting Chaffee to victory.
Jill Little scored 22 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for Chaffee (7-9) in a see-saw battle. Teammate Amy Burnett added 12 points and Kate Nolen tallied 11.
Chaffee jumped out to a 14-6 lead in the in the first quarter but Dexter came back to take a 23-21 lead by halftime. The Lady Bearcats still clung to a 36-35 lead at the start of the fourth quarter.
Mikaela Scott scored 22 points for Dexter and Darcie Sneed netted 15.
Boys basketball
Meadow Heights 82, Kingston 52
PATTON -- After losing its first 17 games this season, Meadow Heights won its second in succession, a blowout of Kingston.
Meadow Heights' Seth Revelle had a game-high 23 points, and Josh Mayfield and Tyler Thompson each added 13.
Meadow Heights trailed 14-12 after the first quarter but outscored Kingston 70-38 from there.
Puxico 74, Leopold 52
LEOPOLD -- Leopold dropped to 12-8 with its setback to Puxico.
Adam Horrell led Leopold with 11 points.
Puxico jumped out to a 19-8 lead in the first quarter.
