PERRYVILLE -- Perryville's girls basketball team clinched at least a share of the Jefferson County Conference crown Thursday night with a 57-28 victory over Herculaneum.
Perryville improved to 17-7 overall and 8-1 in conference play.
"I'm happy after stumbling and losing a game early in the season to come back and win the conference," said Perryville coach Steve Wunderlich. "That was one of our goals at the beginning of the season."
Renee Kaempfe paced Perryville with 13 points and Dena Schumer added 11.
The Lady Pirates didn't leave the outcome in doubt for long, opening a 20-point lead by halftime. The Lady Pirates led 10-3 after one period and 29-9 by intermission.
Perryville returns to action Saturday when it visits Cape Central. The JV game starts at 3 p.m.
