Cape Girardeau Central graduate Marisa Uzoaru repeated as the Mid-East Athletic Conference indoor high jump champion this past week, tying the 14-year-old conference record in the process.

Competing in Princess Anne, Md., Uzoaru, a junior competing for Florida A&M University, cleared 5 feet, 9 3/4 inches on her final attempt.

Earlier this year, Uzoaru made a jump of 5-10 to meet the provisional qualifying standard for the national indoor championships. The jump ranks her 13th nationally in Division I.

Uzoaru is a 1999 graduate of Central.
