In a pitcher's duel, Notre Dame's baseball team fell 2-1 to visiting Parkway North Saturday.

The Bulldogs (4-2) scored a run in the sixth inning to cut the lead to 2-1, but Jeff Brosey was gunned out at the plate in the bottom of the seventh to end the game. Brosey was trying to score from second on a single.

Brosey took the loss, giving up two runs in four innings.

Offensively, Notre Dame was held to six hits. Blake Urhahn and Andy Ralls had two hits apiece for the Bulldogs. Notre Dame pitchers only allowed seven hits, and neither team committed an error.

"That was probably the best game, outside of offense, we've played all year," Notre Dame coach Jeff Graviett said.

GIRLS SOCCER

Ursuline Academy 8, Central 0

Host Ursuline Academy scored three minutes into the game on its way to a 3-0 halftime lead and a shutout in St. Louis over visiting Central.

The Tigers, playing with four starters out because of injuries, fell to 3-4.

Central's JV dropped to 3-1-1 after a 3-0 loss.

Notre Dame 3, Rosary 2 (OT)

Brittney Little scored a goal with no time remaining in the first half of overtime to help Notre Dame win on the road.

Sierra Ellis and Emily Essner added goals for the Bulldogs (5-1-1). Little and Kristen Boos had assists.

Notre Dame's JV team tied Rosary 0-0.

TRACK AND FIELD

ND wins home meet

Notre Dame boys track team finished first overall with 89 points during a home meet against Farmington (47) and East Prairie (41).

Several Bulldogs placed first in their events: Joe Dufek (discus), C.J. Harper, Jason Delgado, Ryan Roggow, Sam Montgomery (800 relay), Cory Beussink (long jump), Dufek (shot put), Brandon Job (high jump), Delgado (800 run), Max Poppen (200 dash) and Bryce Willen (pole vault).

Notre Dame's girls finished second behind Farmington despite tying two school records and setting one. Emily Bira set a school record in the 200-meter dash, finishing in 27.71 seconds. Bira tied a school record when she won the 100 dash, running it in 13.26. Alana Weismueller tied the school record in the 300 hurdles (54.47) but finished second in the event. Ashley Millham (800 run) and the team of Bira, Amber Karnes, Laura Weissmueller, Erin Pfau (100 relay) took first in their events.

West shines in Illinois

Jackson's Heather West received the outstanding field event performer award as the Indians finished second in the girls division of the Murphysboro Invitational.

West won the triple jump (35-5) and finished second in the long jump (16-10). Rachel Lowes (400 meter) and Nicole Fadler (3200 meter) were Jackson's other winners.

Jackson's boys finished eighth. Stuart McIntosh led the Indians with a win in the pole vault.

Central's girls were third and the boys finished fourth.

Winners for Central's girls were Holly Schaffer (800 meter), Maggie Limbaugh (pole vault) and Ashley Colon (shot put), along with the 1,600-meter and 3,200-meter relay teams. Limbaugh tied the meet record, while both relay teams set meet records.

For Central's boys, Anthony Harris won the high jump.

Dobbelare breaks record

Kyle Dobbelare set a Missouri Relays record in the 110 high hurdles to lead the way for Perryville.

Dobbelare also broke the school record with his time of 14.65. Dobbelare also finished second in the 300 meter intermediate hurdles. Chris Porter won the long jump (21-61/2) and triple jump (43-93/4) and Kevin Bohnert won the 100 meter.

GIRLS SWIMMING

Central fourth at home

Central placed fourth in the first City of Roses Invitational at Central Municipal Pool.

Glendale, Lindbergh and Eureka made up the top three.

Cassie Kipper made a state cut with a 5:45.53 in the 500 free. Katie Maginel (100 butterfly), Jackie Urlacher (diving), Kipper (200 IM) and Brett Ford (100 breast) all had third place finishes for Central. Central's medley relay and 400 relay also finished third.

BOYS TENNIS

Parkway Central 6, Central 5

Central fell to 1-4 with a loss in suburban St. Louis.

Heath Orr, Will Ramsey and Adam Baron notched singles victories for the Tigers.
