Packers rally past Bucs

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Green Bay quarterback Brett Favre now has a 10-0 home record against the Tampa Bay after the Packers rallied for a 21-20 victory Sunday.

Allen Rossum returned a punt 55 yards for the go-ahead touchdown with three minutes left. Ahman Green had a career-high 169 yards on 24 carries.

The Buccaneers (4-3) lost despite converting three turnovers, including two interceptions of Favre, into a 17-7 lead early in the third quarter. Brad Johnson was sacked seven times and the Packers (5-2) outgained the Bucs 352 yards to 194.

GIANTS 27, COWBOYS 24

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Kerry Collins, who had two interceptions returned for touchdowns, threw three scoring passes, and Morten Andersen kicked the winning field goal in overtime as New York rallied.

Collins hit Ike Hilliard with a 33-yarder on third down to set up the game-winning kick. Morten Andersen kicked a decisive 42-yard field goal in his 300th NFL game.

The victory snapped a three-game losing streak for the Giants (4-4), who also picked off four of Clint Stoerner's passes in the second half. They blocked a punt to set up Collins' 9-yard touchdown pass to Hilliard that tied it in the fourth quarter.

The 17-point comeback was New York's biggest in nearly 15 years.

Dexter Coakley scored on a 29-yard interception and Mario Edwards returned one 71 yards, giving the Cowboys (2-5) their 24-7 lead.

BEARS 27, BROWNS 21

CHICAGO -- Mike Brown returned an interception 16 yards for a game-winning touchdown for the second straight week, giving the Bears (6-1) their sixth straight win.

Trailing 21-7, the Bears scored two touchdowns in the final 28 seconds of regulation. James Allen caught a 34-yard pass from Shane Matthews that the Browns (4-3) tried to bat down in the end zone on the final play.

Chicago, which beat the 49ers 37-31 in overtime last Sunday on Brown's 33-yard interception return after trailing by 19 points in the second half, couldn't move in overtime. Brad Maynard's 52-yard punt pinned the Browns at their 12.

On second down, Couch's pass was tipped by Bryan Robinson, and Brown was there again, carrying the ball 16 yards to the end zone and then all the way out of the stadium.

Matthews' 9-yard pass to Marty Booker with 28 seconds left preceded Bobby Howard recovering an onside kick at the Browns 47.

Cleveland looked in control, getting a fumble return for a TD from Courtney Brown on the second play of the game, intercepting three passes and sacking Matthews five times.

CHIEFS 25, CHARGERS 20

SAN DIEGO -- Trent Green, San Diego's third-string quarterback in 1993, and running back Priest Holmes brought the Chiefs back. They keyed a 71-yard drive and Tony Richardson scored his second TD of the game, from the 1 with 1:26 left, for Kansas City (2-6).

Holmes gained a season-high 181 yards -- his third 100-yard game this year -- and scored one touchdown. Holmes had 86 yards at halftime, 5 more than the Chargers had in total offense.

After 39-year-old Doug Flutie was knocked out with a concussion, Drew Brees, the team's second-round pick, led San Diego (5-3) on four straight scoring drives in the second half. His 20-yard touchdown pass to Freddie Jones with 6:10 left gave the Chargers a 20-19 lead.

RAVENS 13, STEELERS 10

PITTSBURGH -- In a battle of staunch defenses and field goal kickers, the Ravens (5-3) closed the gap on the first-place Steelers (5-2) in the AFC Central.

Kris Brown, one of the league's most dependable kickers, missed four field goals, including a potential game-tying 35-yarder in the closing seconds for Pittsburgh. The Ravens got two field goals from Matt Stover in the fourth quarter.

Randall Cunningham, who went over the 30,000-yard career mark, found Shannon Sharpe on a 13-yard scoring pass for Baltimore's only touchdown.

Plaxico Burress caught his first pro TD pass, a 21-yarder for Pittsburgh.

49ERS 21, LIONS 13

SAN FRANCISCO -- Terrell Owens caught two second-half touchdown passes from Jeff Garcia as the 49ers (5-2) kept Detroit (0-7) winless in Marty Mornhinweg's first season as coach.

Mornhinweg, the 49ers' offensive coordinator the previous four seasons, got the Lions off to a 10-0 lead. But the Lions managed 131 total yards to San Francisco's 427.

Owens, whose criticism of Steve Mariucci's game plan in last week's loss to Chicago brought a sharp rebuke from his coach, caught 30- and 7-yard TD passes from Garcia. He had nine receptions for 125 yards, but he and Mariucci didn't talk after either TD catch.

Garcia was 26-of-35 for 296 yards and three TDs. Detroit's only TD came on Robert Bailey's 74-yard interception return.

TITANS 28, JAGUARS 24

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Steve McNair threw for two touchdowns and ran for two more, including a 1-yarder with 44 seconds left, as the Titans (3-4) extended the Jaguars' losing skid to five straight games. He has passed for nine TDs in his last four games against Jacksonville (2-5), with no interceptions.

McNair was 27-of-34 for 241 yards passing, with 10 carries for 74 yards. Eddie George, who has never missed a game in his NFL career, played despite injuries to his knee, thigh and ankle. He carried 22 times for 70 yards.

Jevon Kearse had three sacks.

DOLPHINS 23, PANTHERS 6

MIAMI -- Patrick Surtain's 29-yard TD interception return put the Dolphins (5-2) ahead to stay as they extended the Panthers' losing streak to seven after an opening victory.

COLTS 30, BILLS 14

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- Chad Bratzke helped force two fumbles, and the maligned Colts' defense had six sacks.

Peyton Manning, who passed for 421 yards in a 42-26 win over Buffalo (1-6) earlier this season, fooled everyone on a third-and-1 when he faked a handoff and broke to his left, scoring on a naked bootleg from 33 yards.

The Colts (4-3) won without Edgerrin James, the league's second-leading rusher, who missed his first career game with a sprained left knee. Dominic Rhodes rushed for 100 yards on 34 carries and scored a touchdown.

PATRIOTS 24, FALCONS 10

ATLANTA -- Tom Brady bounced back from throwing four interceptions in the fourth quarter last week. He threw for 250 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Patriots (4-4) past the Falcons (3-4).

Operating against the most generous pass defense in the NFL, Brady had a 4-yarder to Kevin Faulk and a 15-yarder to Marc Edwards that gave the Patriots a 17-7 halftime lead. Troy Brown scored on a 44-yard deflected pass in the third period.

REDSKINS 27, SEAHAWKS 14

LANDOVER, Md. -- The Redskins (3-5) won their third straight as Stephen Davis ran 32 times for 142 yards against one of the best rushing defenses in the league.

Until Sunday, no back had run for more than 52 yards this year against the Seahawks (3-4).

EAGLES 21, CARDINALS 7

TEMPE, Ariz. -- The Eagles, victims of five fourth-quarter comebacks by Jake Plummer, stopped three drives in the final 15 minutes and held on to beat Arizona (2-5).

Donovan McNabb threw scoring passes of 8 and 54 yards to James Thrash, and Brian Mitchell returned the opening kickoff 94 yards for the Eagles (4-3).

JETS 16, SAINTS 9

NEW ORLEANS -- John Hall kicked field goals of 39, 47, and 23 yards and New York's defense had its second straight strong outing.

The Jets (5-3) are 4-0 on the road this season. The Saints (4-3) are 1-2 at home this season, 5-7 at home overall under coach Jim Haslett.
