Southeast Missouri State's Sonya Daugherty was named the Ohio Valley Conference co-player of the week for women's basketball Monday.

Daugherty, a senior wing, averaged 16.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 2.5 steals in Southeast's two wins last week.

In Southeast's 69-51 victory over first-place Murray State, Daugherty scored a career-high 31 points and tied a career high by pulling down 12 rebounds for her fourth career double-double.

Daugherty hit 12 of 22 shots against the Racers, including 4 of 7 from 3-point range.

Daugherty, a three-year starter and a preseason all-conference selection, is averaging 12.2 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game. She leads the Redhawks in assists and is their No. 2 scorer.

Southeast (15-12, 10-6) is tied for fourth place in the OVC entering its final two regular-season games, Thursday at Tennessee State and Saturday at Austin Peay.

The Southeast women's tennis team lost it season opener Sunday, 7-0 at Bradley.

Southeast's closest singles match saw Julia Masotti drop a 7-6, 6-3 decision at No. 1.

Elise Nattier, Kara True and Erika Seabaugh all fell 6-0, 6-0 in the next three singles matches, while Valentina Emiliani-Segrera lost 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5. No. 6 singles was not played.

In doubles, Masotti and Nattier lost 8-5 at No. 1. True and Seabaugh fell 8-0 at No. 2, as did Emiliani-Segrera and Sarah Pettigrew at No. 3.

Southeast's next match will be March 7 at Memphis.
