Lawson opened the season by winning the Washington University Early Bird meet in St. Louis on Saturday. She covered the 4K course in 14 minutes, 45 seconds to place first in a field of 66 competitors.

Lawson's performance helped Southeast to a first-place finish out of 10 squads. She has now led the Redhawks in 12 of her 13 career races.

"Rebekah works very hard and I expect her best is yet to come," Southeast coach Ryan Lane said in a release.
