OVC honors Harris again

Southeast Missouri State senior tailback Henry Harris is the Ohio Valley Conference offensive player of the week for the second week in a row.

Harris shared the honor, announced Sunday, with Tennessee State tailback Preston Brown and Jacksonville State tailback Jamal Young.

Harris, the first Southeast player to earn the award in consecutive weeks, rushed for a career-high total for the second straight game as he gained 196 yards on 32 carries during Saturday's 23-21 win over Tennessee Tech.

Harris, the OVC's No. 2 rusher with 501 yards, is the first Southeast player to rush for at least 100 yards in three straight games since 2007.

Harris is averaging 195 all-purpose yards per contest, the fourth-best mark in Division I-AA.

The Redhawks, 3-1 overall and a first-place 2-0 in the OVC, play at Eastern Illinois on Saturday.

Soccer wins 1-0

The Southeast soccer team ended a string of four straight road games Sunday by beating Austin Peay 1-0.

Southeast improved to 5-5 overall and 1-1 in OVC play. Austin Peay is 9-3 and 1-1 as the Govs saw their six-game home winning streak end.

Senior Ashley Runion scored the lone goal in the 77th minute on a pass from Lauren Bozesky. It was Runion's second goal in as many games and team-high sixth of the season.

Runion's goal was her seventh career game-winner, placing her second on the school's all-time list. She has 58 career points, putting her third in program history.

Freshman goalkeeper Ashton Aubuchon recorded her third shutout of the season. She was not credited with a save, although Southeast was outshot 10-5.

Southeast plays the first of three straight home matches at 2 p.m. Sunday against Eastern Illinois.
