OVC bestows more weekly honors on first-place Redhawks

The Southeast Missouri State football team keeps racking up wins and Ohio Valley Conference honors.

Southeast earned multiple OVC player of the week awards for the second time this season Sunday when senior tailback Henry Harris was named offensive player of the week and sophomore linebacker Darrick Borum was named defensive player of the week.

Harris garnered his third straight OVC offensive player of the week honor after he rushed for 179 yards and two touchdowns during Saturday's 28-13 win at Eastern Illinois.

Harris also returned four kickoffs for 100 yards en route to posting a career-high 286 all-purpose yards. He became the first OVC player to be named offensive player of the week three weeks in a row since early last season.

Harris, second in the OVC and fourth nationally with 680 rushing yards, has posted four consecutive 100-yard rushing performances. He ranks second nationally in all-purpose yards.

Borum had a career-high 10 tackles, two sacks, three tackles for loss, an interception, a fumble recovery and a pass breakup against Eastern Illinois.

Borum's interception early in the game led to a 7-0 lead for the Redhawks. He helped spark Southeast's defense to a season-high five turnovers.

Borum leads Southeast in sacks, tackles for loss, forced fumbles and fumble recoveries.

Southeast, 4-1 overall and riding a four-game winning streak, is 3-0 in OVC play for the first time. The Redhawks host Tennessee State on Saturday.
