MURFREESBORO -- The Southeast Missouri State University women's softball team continued to push aside OVC competition Saturday, moving into today's semifinal round of the conference tournament.
Southeast, 22-2 in the OVC during the regular season, posted an 8-0, six-inning victory over Tennessee State and a 1-0 win over Tennessee-Martin.
Christine Englehart (11-0) picked up the win in the opener. Janis Swiderski led the Otahkian offense with a 4-for-4 day at the plate, including a double. Lisa Kraxner, the OVC Player of the Year, and Amy Evers each added two hits and three RBI.
Freshman Debbie Schmelz (14-3) threw a two-hitter at Tennessee-Martin in the second game. Jodi Smith accounted for the game's only run with an RBI double.
Southeast will face either Middle Tennessee or Eastern Kentucky in today's 11 a.m. semifinal.
