JONESBORO, Ark. -- Southeast Missouri State University's women's basketball team suffered its first loss of the young season Saturday night when Arkansas State slipped past the Otahkians 74-69 in the championship game of the Arkansas State Tournament.

The Otahkians (1-1) led the highly-regarded Lady Indians 33-32 at halftime before ASU took control down the stretch.

Paula Corder-King scored 16 points to pace the Otahkians while Pam Iversen added 14 points. Both players were named to the all-tournament team.

ASU's Julie Hagood led all scorers with 23 points as she was named the tourney's most valuable player.

Southeast opens its home schedule Tuesday night when Missouri-Kansas City visits the Show Me Center.
