Southeast Missouri State University softball players Christine Engelhardt and Jennifer Oermann have been named second team GTE Academic All-Americans by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
It marks the second time Engelhardt, a junior pitcher, has been named an academic all-american. She was the first NCAA Division I first team academic all-american at Southeast last year. She has a 3.95 G.P.A. in elementary education.
The Pinckneyville, Ill., native was 16-6 this year with a 2.57 E.R.A.
Oermann, a junior shortstop, has a 3.78 G.P.A. in special education. She batted .410 this year with three home runs and 35 RBIs. Oermann was also named the MVP of the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament.
"This selection speaks very highly of Christine and Jenny as individuals and I am proud for them to represent the softball program here at Southeast Missouri and the university as a whole," said Southeast head coach Lana Flynn Richmond. "They are not only tremendous players but also tremendous students."
