NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Southeast Missouri State softball team traveled to Belmont on Tuesday in search of some revenge.

They got some, but so did Belmont.

After splitting two games with Belmont (6-8) in this past weekend's Hilltopper Classic at Western Kentucky, the Otahkians (2-4) split a doubleheader at Aquinas Field on Tuesday.

Southeast won the opener 6-1, and the Bruins posted a 4-1 victory in the second game.

Southeast's three-run third inning broke open the first game. Melissa VanVelkinburgh and Kelly Birk both reached base on errors and Alana Bagby-Leonard walked to load the bases. Two more Belmont errors and a single by Suzi Lair brought in the three runs.

Southeast added two more runs in the seventh with the help of more Belmont errors.

Amy Fahnestock was the winning pitcher, allowing just run on four hits over seven innings.

Victoria Torrez had four hits and scored a run for Southeast.

Southeast's only run in the second game was scored in the fourth inning when Bagby-Leonard reached on an error and later scored on an error.

Belmont answered with a run in its half of the fourth and three more in the fifth.
