Southeast Missouri State University had 20 top-10 finishes Saturday at the adidas Classic indoor track meet hosted by the University of Nebraska.
The Southeast women had 13 of the top finishes in the event, which took place at the Bob Devaney Sports Center and included schools such as Colorado, Colorado State, Wichita State and North Dakota State.
The Southeast women were led by sprinter Rose Fulton. She placed second in the 200-meter dash in 25.26 seconds. Wichita State's Inese Petruna won the event in 25.05, while Southeast also had a fourth-place finisher in Natasha Fortenberry. She finished in 25.52 seconds.
Juanita Coleman added a third-place finish in the 600-yard run. She posted a time of 1 minute 25.10 seconds.
Heather Jenkins also posted a third-place showing. She finished behind two Nebraska women in the weight throw. Her mark of 59 feet 11 inches was four inches out of first place. Megan Youse was ninth in the event with a mark of 50-10 3/4.
Jenkins was sixth in the women's shot put and Youse was eighth.
Southeast's 1,600-meter relay team of Nyisha Porter, LaQuita Andrews, Brooke Woodruff and Coleman finished fifth in 3:51.32.
In the mile run, Lindsay Zeiler was fourth in 4:57.50 and teammate Kaci Pilcher was fifth in 4:58.87.
Lyndsey Stevenson finished sixth in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.87 seconds.
Woodruff was seventh in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:13.54.
Andrews was eighth in the 400-meter dash in 57.52.
For the men, Mike Colon had the top finish. He placed fourth in the triple jump, clearing 44-7 1/2.
Miles Smith was seventh in the 400-meter dash in 49.41 seconds.
Smth teamed with Alonzo Nelson, Tim Jefferson and Chaz Brown on the 1,600-meter relay team that finished sixth in 3:20.08.
Jay Heddell was fifth in the shot put with a mark of 54-7 1/4, and Shawn Statler was sixth in the log jump. Jordan Willi was ninth in the pole vault, clearing 14-7 1/4. Andrew Lambert was 10th in the men's high jump with a mark of 6-4 3/4.
Godwin scores a 10; Otahks beat Centenary
Ashley Godwin scored a perfect 10 in the floor exercise to help Southeast Missouri State University score a dual win 195.350 to 192.475 over Centenary on Saturday night at Houck Field House. Godwin's score helped the Otahkians score a 49.5 as a team in the floor exercise, also tied for first all time. Godwin's bars score of 9.925, also tied for first all time.
