MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -- Southeast Missouri State University's volleyball team moved into a tie for first place in the Ohio Valley Conference by routing host Middle Tennessee State Sunday afternoon.
The Otahkians prevailed 15-4, 15-6, 15-4 as they improved to 10-2 in OVC play, the same record as Murray State. Southeast, now 20-7 overall, has recorded at least 20 victories for five straight seasons.
Jackie Derwort paced the Otahkians with a triple-double performance of 11 kills, 11 assists and 12 digs. It marked the first time a Southeast player other than Tuba Meto has recorded a triple-double this season.
Meto just missed another triple-double with 38 assists, 10 digs and nine kills.
Krista Haukap led the Otahkians in kills with 13 and she also had 10 digs. Angie Aschoff had nine kills and nine digs while Cathy Prichard added seven kills and a team-high 15 digs.
MTSU fell to 10-16 overall, 5-7 in the league.
Southeast will return to action Friday night at Austin Peay.
