Although they are longshots to make the national meet, Southeast's men's and women's cross country teams will compete in the NCAA Regional today in Carbondale, Ill.

Southeast's women are coming off a third-place finish in the OVC Championships, led by sophomore Kaci Pilcher and senior Amy Arteme, who were fifth and 15th, respectively. Freshman Kris Woolf placed 16th.

"This will be a chance for our younger runners to get a good look at great competition," said Southeast coach Tammy Wenkel. "This will help them realize what's out there, eventually making them train harder to get to that level."

Southeast's men were fifth in the OVC, led by Danny Copeland and Blake Popp, who placed 25th and 27th, respectively.
