Southeast Missouri State University's gymnastics team's meet against Illinois State at Houck Field House Tuesday had to be one of the longest in the school's history.

The Otahkians must not have minded.

Southeast (13-7) set a school record with a 195.650 as a team, Erin Chenier broke her school record with a 39.425 in the all-around and Kate Farrington, the team's only senior, capped Senior Night with a perfect on 10 on floor.

"This was a great night and a big meet for us," said Southeast coach Bill Hopkins. "We didn't count any falls and we just cranked one routine after another."

Illinois State scored a 192.650. One of the four judges didn't make it to the meet, so instead of running two events at a time as usual, both teams competed in the same event at once, basically doubling the length of the meet.

Two years ago, Farrington, from Decatur, Ill., recorded the first 10 in school history on vault. She scored the second 10 in school history Tuesday.

"I always hoped (I would score another 10), and I know that I'm better now than I was my sophomore year," said Farrington. "I feel like I earned it more this time. My sophomore year they were kind of giving scores out. I felt I deserved it this time."

Farrington also won vault with a 9.925 and was second all-around (39.200).

Chenier, a sophomore from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, set a school record in the all-around on Jan. 27 with a 39.275. On Tuesday, Chenier scored 9.875s on vault, beam and floor and a 9.8 on bars. She placed first on beam, tied for second on bars, was third on vault and tied for third on floor.

"It was my goal for the night to get a 39.4," said Chenier. "It wasn't the best meet of my life, but it was good."

Not to be left out, junior Kristin Frohlich won bars with a 9.9, was second on bars (9.825) and tied for third on floor (9.875).

Illinois State's Michelle Huston was third overall with a 38.425 and tied for second on bars (9.8). Beth Larson was second on vault (9.9), Kristina Green was third on beam (9.8) and Rachael Heinisch tied for third on floor.

Southeast, will have its final home meet will be Friday at Houck Field House against Iowa.
